Loom Gauge

Fraud

Offers that ask you to buy the yarn

Longer note · updated October 2026

Some fake offers dress up as craft or home-based work: "we send you materials, you make items, we buy them back". The catch is that you pay first.

Common versions

  • Starter kits you must buy before receiving any work
  • Training or certification sold by the "employer"
  • Deposits to unlock tasks or withdraw earnings
  • Forwarding money through your account, which can involve you in a crime

What genuine work looks like

Real clients and platforms pay you. They don't sell you the materials for a job they then fail to buy back.

What to do

Don't pay. Stop replying and report the account. If you've already paid, call your bank straight away and report it to the police or your country's fraud reporting service.
